About Udupi

The lush green Western Ghats on the east and the and roaring Arabian sea on the west, welcome you to the most sacred and beautiful land in Karnataka State Udupi. The cultural and spiritual capital of Karnataka, Udupi is the seat of education, banking and healthcare. Carved out from the erstwhile Dakshina Kannada district, the Udupi district consists of Udupi, Kundapura and Karkala taluks.

Udupi is the most sacred land where the proponent of Dwaitha Philosophy Sri Madhwacharya born and spread the messages of Dwaitha philosophy. The place is the land of Lord Krishna who is centre of attraction here.

The land being calm and quite since ages has led to the flourish of many art forms. Many artistes, writers and different cultures have originated from this place. People of this beautiful land are known for their peace loving and co-operative nature. While Tulu is the mother tongue of large number of citizens here, Kannada is the official language. As the Udupi is situated in the Konkan belt, Konkani is also spoken by large sum of people.
